Happy Saturday...

Good morning, I am scheduling this post so fingers crossed the sun is still shining on us all, it has been wonderful, I just hope it continues for all the workers out there, hoping for a good bank holiday weekend and the children for half term.

Right, well I had made something else and had alot of scraps over, so cut into strips and did a weaving background, it has been a longggg time since I did this, do you remember when we all made beautiful hearts and centre points for cards, such a nice way to use up scraps. Anyway, here it is, not exactly what I hoped for but you have what you have !!

I used black leather type tape round the edges, not really liking it much but anyhow, the silhouette of the girl with the dog has been in a box of dies cuts for ages, so she gets a spin same with the hello.

It passed alittle time on while I had nothing better to do and it was nice to re-visit something I hadn't done in ages.

Just been going through old old posts and found this, a heart I made from wood and did some of the weaving on it...from 2011

Now, who remembers this box.

It was made for Carla,s class, I started with an old show box and then bevelled the top and scored it to make it look like wood planks, and made straps, lots of sewing on the edges and stamping, I was really into boxes at this stage, this is the only picture I can find of it and now she wants to start over, even though this is still up at school, that surprised me, so watch this space, I hope I still have the energy, hahaha.
One last thing, Look please at this beautiful Rose, it was my Mums, its called Just Joey and I think Carla bought it for her one day out of the blue, the perfume is sweet and it keeps on coming, it has to be about twenty five years old now.

I hope if we get rain it doesn't ruin it like it usually does....
Enjoy the weekend.

The woven background is such a clever way to use up scraps, and it adds a wonderful texture to the piece. I am going to have to give this a try. The silhouette of the girl with the dog feels so timeless and charming, and the black leather edging gives it a bold contrast. Also, that Just Joey rose is stunning—it must be so special to have a flower with such sentimental value. Hope the weather treats it kindly this time around.

The woven scraps look wonderful and make a perfect backdrop for the silhouette girl and dog, I think the bold black borders look great- the whole piece looks quite dramatic.
I don't remember the box, it looks fantastic so I'll be interested to see what you come up with now!
The rose is gorgeous, so beautiful - you caught it at the perfect time. We used to have that species of rose in our previous house, it was my favourite and produced copious blooms every year. When we moved -25 years ago now- I was tempted to dig it up and bring it here but was afraid it might not survive. I wonder if it's still flowering now. Thanks for the memory.

OH! You're so creative Janette, I love the die with the weaving, great idea, the black border certainly pulls it together, A fabulous piece of work. A fabulous rose, I remember the name. As for rain spoiling the roses, we've had a lot with high winds, but the roses are still, unbelievably beautiful. Have a lovely weekend. x

Wow Janette, Love the weaving and the black leather tape is perfect for the edging. The rose is gorgeous. My climbing red roses are in full bloom, and they are 35 years old now. The weather has been cooler here in Indiana, I have been enjoying it because I know the hot days of summer will be here soon.
Hope you have a great week.

Your background is like a patchwork quilt of life Janette. I love it! Oh the heart is so pretty too and can see why you visited that technique. I look forward to seeing your new box for Carla!! Great for the brain to get into box making for sure. That rose is amazing for such an age Janette. The colour is so pretty and I do love the name too.
